Colorectal cancer risk

Drugs that enhance the effects of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-d (PPAR-d) may put patients at risk for colorectal cancer. Researchers point out that such drugs are being developed for the treatment of atherosclerosis and obesity. Activation of PPAR-d increases the number and size of precancerous growths in mice, they say (www.nature.com/naturemedicine).
