Patients happy with pharmacy supply of EHC

Patients believe that pharmacies are suitable places for buying emergency hormonal contraception (EHC), research shows.

Customers in 250 community pharmacies who had either bought EHC or been supplied with it via prescription or patient group direction were asked to complete a questionnaire about EHC. A total of 758 responses were received.

The research showed that 93 per cent of customers thought that the pharmacy was a suitable place to buy EHC and 76 per cent thought that it was suitable for discussing EHC. Nearly all — 92 per cent — were happy with the advice that they had been given about EHC.

The research was conducted by UniChem.
