Pregnancy test kit problem

A problem with a pregnancy test kit used in GP surgeries, health clinics and hospitals has led the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to announce that it will be issuing urgent advice about its recall. Details are available at devices.mhra.gov.uk

The test kit, called SASTM One Step pregnancy test kit, may produce an incorrect “false negative” result. The MHRA recommends that concerned women who have had a pregnancy test over the previous 12 weeks should make an appointment with their GP or consultant.

Test kits bought for home use available through pharmacies are not affected.
