Wasted money

From Mr R. Humphreys

Does anyone else share my outrage at the article “Life measured out in medicines” (PJ, 14 February, p194), which describes how, for the sake of artistic purity, £10,000 worth of new medicines were purchased to be incorporated into a banner? This follows a news item in the previous edition (PJ, 7 February, p145) detailing “at least 523 tonnes of medicines wasted each year”.

When worthwhile health care charities are crying out for funds, to see money wasted like this beggars belief.

Ron Humphreys
Sligo, Ireland
