Fruit and cereals best for CHD

Eating fibre from fruits and cereals, but not from vegetables, is linked with lower coronary heart disease risk. Researchers analysed data from 10 cohort studies involving over 300,000 men and women. Coronary risk was 10 to 30 per cent lower for each 10g increment of total, cereal or fruit fibre consumed daily (Archives of Internal Medicine 2004;164:370).
