Polymer link reduces toxicity

Researchers have reduced toxicity of an anti-tumour drug by linking it to a polymer. TNP-470, an angiogenesis inhibitor, slows tumour growth in patients with metastatic cancer but can lead to neurotoxicity. Studies in mice indicate that linking this agent with a co-polymer prevents it from crossing the blood-brain barrier (Nature Medicine 2004;10:255).
