Allen On 17 February, Percy Wilfrid Allen, MRPharmS, of 45 Aylesbury Road, Aston Clinton, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire HP22 5AQ. Mr Allen registered in 1933.

Butcher Recently, Frank Dewison Butcher, MRPharmS, of 15 Bempton Gardens, Bridlington, North Humberside YO16 7HQ. Mr Butcher registered in 1944.

Clyde Recently Hugh Clyde, MRPharmS, of “Voresheed”, Berstane Road, Kirkwall, Orkney KW15 1SZ. Mr Clyde registered in 1955.

Davison On 28 January, Sydney Gordon Davison, FRPharmS, of 75/76 Pales Green, Castle Acre, King’s Lynn, Norfolk PE32 2AL. Mr Davison registered in 1949.

Fowler On 15 December 2003, Frank Fowler, of 28 Davesta Road, Springwood, New South Wales 2777, Australia. Mr Fowler registered in 1941 and retired from the register in 1975. He was apprenticed with the Preston Drug Co while studying chemistry at the Harris Institute and pharmacy at Manchester University, where he was awarded a silver medal in his final year. After registering as a pharmaceutical chemist he worked as an organic chemist with E. Griffith Hughes/British Schering on sulphonamide production. He was elected an associate of the Royal Institute of Chemistry in 1942.In 1946 he joined Benger Laboratories (later to form the major part of Fisons Pharmaceuticals) as its first organist chemist, working on the synthesis of new drug compounds. He was promoted to development manager and then technical manager, responsible for development, engineering and works chemists. He was elected a member of the company’s board in 1957. In the course of his work with Benger he was instrumental in the research, development and production of several major new products, including iron dextran (Imferon). Between 1956 and 1960 he made five trips to American to protect the product against patent infringement and six trips to India to build and commission a factory in Calcutta for its production. In 1962, he resigned from Benger and purchased two pharmacies in the Wirral, Cheshire, operating under the name of Waterworth Chemists Ltd. After five years he sold the businesses and emigrated to Australia with his wife and younger son Peter. He became new product development manager for Riker Laboratories, Sydney, eventually retiring at the age of 55. He is survived by his wife Mildred, sons Malcolm and Peter and four grandchildren.

Griffiths On 15 February, Gladys Mary Griffiths, MRPharmS, of “Shiskine”, Capon Tree Road, Brampton, Cumbria CA8 1QL. Mrs Griffiths registered in 1935.

Roberts On 24 February, Thomas Gwylfa Roberts, MRPharmS, of 17 Swinbrook Court, 70 Langdale Gate, Witney, Oxfordshire OX28 6FN. Mr Roberts registered in 1948.
