SOS fields seven candidates

The Save Our Society campaign has confirmed that it is fielding candidates for each of the seven vacancies in this year’s election to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Council.

Last year, three out of seven SOS candidates were elected, along with a candidate who subsequently announced his support for the SOS. Should all seven of this year’s candidates succeed, the SOS will have 11 declared supporters on the 24-strong Council.

A statement issued by campaign member Rimat Patel says that the SOS candidates have pledged, if elected, to immediately address members’ concerns about the Council’s proposals for a new Royal Charter. He adds that they represent a broad spectrum of the membership, and their election would produce a “more balanced” Council. The candidates are named as Hassan Argomandkhah, Shiv Bagga, Sid Dajani, Davan Eustace, Maurice Hickey, John Jolley and Graham Phillips. The Society does not publish an official list of candidates until after its April Council meeting.
