Acute care services improve
Services provided by acute care trusts are improving, according to the Commission for Health Improvement.
In a report published on 18 March, CHI reveals that progress is being
made with services becoming more focused on the needs of patients. However,
there are areas where improvements are necessary. For example, CHI suggests
that more work needs to take place across traditional boundaries and
says there is a lack of collaboration between health care providers.
Setting targets has led to substantial improvements in the delivery of
care. However, on balance, CHI believes that too many trusts take a mechanistic
approach to achieving targets rather than redesigning systems and processes
to provide good quality care. The report is available online.

Inspection on 1 April.) |
