Minimum wage to rise

National minimum wages will rise from 1 October.

For adults, the rate rises from £4.40 to £4.85 an hour, while the minimum pay for 18–21 year-olds rises from £3.80 to £4.10 an hour and a new minimum rate for 16 and 17 year-olds of £3 an hour is introduced.
