NHS Direct self-help guide now in Thomson directory

NHS Direct has produced a self-help guide to be delivered to people's homes in England as part of the Thomson Local directory.

“Not feeling well?” will cover the most common health problems NHS Direct fields and will provide advice on what to do about them. The guide will be bound into the back of the Thompson directory and will be delivered free of charge to 19 million households over the next 12 months.

The Department of Health, which has collaborated with Thomson and NHS Direct on the scheme, wants health care professionals, including pharmacists, to highlight the availability of the guide to customers and patients.

Part of the cost of producing and distributing the new guide will be met by Thomson, with the Department of Health and NHS Direct contributing £1.2m (6p per copy).
