Allied health professionals to get more prescribing rights

Use of patient group directions is to be extended in England to speech and language therapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists and prosthetists from next month, the Government announced last week.

In addition, a consultation on extending supplementary prescribing rights to physiotherapists, podiatrists, radiographers and optometrists will begin in April or May.
