Trevor Jones to retire from the ABPI

Trevor Jones: 10 years at the ABPI |
Trevor Jones, director-general of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, is to retire in the summer. Professor Jones has been ABPI director-general since July 1994.
At the time of his appointment, the Financial Times wrote: “The
move should add considerable weight to what has been a lacklustre association
with a poor reputation for promoting the cause of the British drugs industry.
Jones is a scientific heavyweight and a fine communicator.”
Ann Lewis, Secretary and Registrar of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society,
said: “Trevor Jones is one of the most successful scientists and
pharmacists of his generation. He speaks with the authority of knowledge
and experience while bestriding the world of academia, research and industry.”
An ABPI spokesman said that no decision had been made on a successor.
