Pharmacists are reminded of the need to ensure that prescription endorsement
is accurate so that the pack sizes and quantities endorsed correctly
reflect the medication supplied. Caution should be exercised in the
use of automatic prescription endorsing systems that sometimes default
to the smallest original pack available. This is especially important
when endorsing weekly prescriptions for medication that is manufactured
in a calendar pack.
A pharmacist who submits prescriptions for payment is responsible for
the accuracy of the endorsements. Inaccurate endorsements may constitute
a fraudulent claim.
