The Huddersfield branch of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society held a dinner on 26 March in honour of the Society's President, Dr Gill Hawksworth, who is a member of the branch.
More than 50 local pharmacists and their partners attended the dinner,
which took place at Woodsome Hall Golf Club, Huddersfield.
Among the participants were branch chairman Roy Carrington, branch secretary
Mike Culshaw and branch treasurer Neil Roberts. Guests included two officers
of the adjoining Halifax branch — chairman Alan Dean and secreaty
Anne Cawdron.
Mr Carrington made a speech in which he congratulated Dr Hawksworth on
her success and proposed a toast to her as President.
Responding to the toast, the President thanked those who had supported
her, including those in the branch who had helped her in her early career
as a pharmacist.
Mr Culshaw told The Journal that the branch had organised the dinner
because it was honoured that Dr Hawksworth had become the first branch
member to be elected President of the Society.
Dr Hawksworth was herself chairman of the branch from 1990 to 1992 and
has also served in other branch posts including that of joint secretary.
