Nurse prescribing extended

Nurse prescribers will be allowed to prescribe a further 60 medicines used to treat life threatening conditions under proposals issued by the Department of Health.

The plans are set out in consultation letter MLX 303 (PDF 300K), issued by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency and the Department on 14 April. Nurses will be able to prescribe medicines for conditions such as deep vein thrombosis and meningitis.
