Adverts broke MHRA rules

Two advertisements carried in a brochure distributed to Vantage pharmacies earlier this year by AAH Pharmaceuticals Ltd breached medicines advertising regulations.

The brochure included pack shots of two Vantage branded products — loperamide 2mg capsules and cetirizine 10mg tablets — that were not true representations of the approved packs.

The images made misleading product claims, according to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. Also, the brochure should have included abbreviated prescribing information because it was sent to people qualified to prescribe and supply medicines.

The ruling comes after a complaint to the MHRA by an unnamed pharmaceutical company.
