Energy expenditure

There are more pleasurable activities than hoovering!

From Mr M. Stein, MRPharmS

It was with some delight that I read your article about energy expenditure during physical activities, particularly the “hoovering” entry (PJ, 8 May, p561). We all date ourselves by the language we use, and perhaps the reporter was listening to the wireless while hoovering before he went out to the pictures, or a hop even. The big omission from the list was, of course, the various conjugal activities. They must use up a not inconsiderable amount of kilocalories. Readers must make their own choice in deciding which activity most pleasurably burns up those calories!
