Future rosy, so says Rosie

Pharmacy's future is rosy, health minister Rosie Winterton told North Yorkshire Local Pharmaceutical Committee's business forum.

Ms Winterton emphasised the importance of pharmacy representation on the professional executive committees of primary care trusts and said that pharmacists should approach PCTs with ideas about how pharmacist prescribing can be used.

However, she said that the timescales for electronic transmission of prescriptions might not be met. A consultation on access to medical records will be published later this year, she added.

The meeting was attended by representatives of six other LPCs and four PCTs.
