Patient's age should be provided on all prescriptions

All prescriptions should provide the age of the patient to ensure that the pharmacist can check the suitability of the dose and tailor his or her advice to the individual, the branch representatives' meeting decided.

Proposing the motion, Tony Pugh (Brighton) said that knowing a patient’s age could help a pharmacist identify whether the patient was in a particular risk.

Allen Asher (East Metropolitan), seconding, said that the age would also help pharmacists ensure that the declaration on the back of the prescription form was filled in properly.
