Statins for rheumatoid arthritis

Statins could be effective in relieving symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, according to new research. Atorvastatin 40mg was compared with placebo in 116 patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were assessed after six months. A small improvement in symptoms was observed (Lancet 2004;363:2015).
