June Council meeting

The Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society met in London on 8 and 9 June. News items about various matters raised at the meeting appear here. These report will be supplemented in due course by an extended transcript of the meeting’s open sessions published on the Society’s website.

Attendance Those present at the meeting were the President for 2003–04 (Gill Hawksworth), the President for 2004–05 (Nicholas Wood), the Vice-President for 2003–04 (Alison Ewing), the Vice-President for 2004–05 (Hemant Patel), the Treasurer for 2003–04 (Linda Stone), the Treasurer for 2003–04 (John Jolley), Gerald Alexander, Hassan Argomandkhah, Martin Astbury, Shiv Bagga, Sultan Dajani, Digby Emson, Phillida Entwistle, Davan Eustace, Christine Glover, Nicola Gray, Maurice Hickey, Patricia Hoare, Clive Jackson, Bob Michell, Graham Phillips, Michael Schofield (who resigned from the Council during the meeting), Douglas Simpson, Noel Wicks and the Secretary and Registrar (Ann Lewis). Also present were the chairman of the Society’s Scottish Executive (David Thomson) and the chairman of the Welsh Executive (Andrea Robinson).

Guests Present by invitation were the following representatives of the Society’s branches and regions: Gaynor Bresnen (chairman, Mersey region); Jonathan Burton (secretary, Stirling and Central Scottish branch); Shopa Gorpil (secretary, Harrow and Hillingdon branch), Nick Hunter (secretary, Coventry and Warwickshire branch); Niel Kenny (Epsom branch).
