Drugs of porcine origin and their clinical alternatives

From Ms G. Mynors

We were delighted with the coverage in the PJ (12 June, p732) of the recently published booklet on drugs of porcine origin, and the tremendous demand for copies which this has generated from pharmacists.

However, we would like to point out that the authoring of the booklet was a collaboration between Medicines Partnership, the Muslim Council of Great Britain, a rabbinical authority and adviser to the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Clinical Leaders of Thrombosis UK, and the Transcultural Nursing Association, facilitated by HealthGain solutions, with an unrestricted educational grant provided by Sanofi-Synthelabo.

All of these parties deserve credit for the publication, and the awareness of these issues which it has raised.
