Pfizer leads on profit

Pfizer was the most profitable pharmaceutical company operating in the UK in the 2003–04 financial year, according to an analysis of the financial performance of 124 companies by Prospect Swetenhams.

GlaxoSmithKline Plc had the largest turnover at £21.2bn with a pre-tax profit margin of 26.0 per cent.

The average profit margin for the 124 companies examined was 24.1 per cent.
