Niacin protects for Alzheimer's

Dietary intake of niacin (from both food and supplements) seems to protect against Alzheimer's disease.

US researchers looked at consumption of this B vitamin among 3,718 adults aged 65 years and older and observed a linear association between higher niacin intake and lower cognitive decline. The protective association was specific to niacin and was not observed with other related B vitamins (Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry 2004;75:1093).
