Numark helps pharmacists prepare for new contract

An initiative to help pharmacists prepare for the new contract has been launched by Numark. The programme, called “Extend”, is available to all Numark members in the UK.

The first phase of the programme will start in August with an audit of members to assess their current services and skills, and their readiness to deliver advanced and enhanced services under the new contract. Responses to this confidential questionnaire will be analysed and a feedback report produced for each participating member.

The reports will summarise members’ answers to the questionnaire and highlight areas on which they need to focus in order to prepare for delivery of the new contract. It will also benchmark each member against other Numark members.

Feedback will also include advice on which enhanced services each member’s local primary care organisation is likely to commission. This data will be drawn from a national survey of PCOs undertaken on behalf of Numark last year.

Finally, the report will propose an action plan that includes timescales and suggests resources: either training materials that are already in the public domain, or, if there is a gap in the market, Numark will commission the necessary training materials.

Each audit will cost about £45, although the service will be free for members who already participate in existing Numark schemes. Numark says the programme will involve a constant cycle of review. Another audit is expected after six months.
