Drug delivery network starts

A research network dedicated to advancing the science of drug delivery held its launch meeting last month.

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council drugs delivery research network aims to bring together researchers from across academia, industry and small-to-medium enterprises to focus on advancing the science of drug delivery, with particular regard to the new classes of drugs.

The purpose of the initial meeting, held at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s London headquarters, was to establish the ground rules to inform the network’s first three years of activity. John Smart, network co-ordinator and head of the Brighton school of pharmacy, explained that the network would work in partnership with existing groups in the area (such as the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the UK-Ireland Controlled Release Society).
