Mirtazapine tablets are now

Cardioplen XL
Cardioplen XL (felodipine) prolonged release tablets are now available from Trinity Pharmaceuticals; net price, 5mg 28 £7.14, 10mg 28 £9.

Dothiepin
Dothiepin tablets 75mg and capsules 25mg are now available from Almus; net price, tablets 75mg 28 £2.78, capsules 25mg 28 £1.54.

Trimethoprim
Trimethoprim tablets 200mg are now available in packs of six tablets from LPC Pharmaceuticals; net price £0.29.

SPC changes

Nu-Seals 75
The summary of product characteristics for Nu-Seals 75 (aspirin 75mg) has been amended. Section 4.8 (undesirable effects) has been revised to read: “Salicylates may induce hypersensitivity, asthma, bronchospasm, urate kidney stones, chronic gastrointestinal blood loss, tinnitus, nausea and vomiting.”

The statement “The special coating of Nu-Seals 75 helps to reduce the incidence of side effects resulting from gastric irritation” has been removed (Alliance Pharmaceuticals Ltd).

Supply problems

Pro-Banthine tablets
There is a short-term supply problem with Pro-Banthine (propantheline bromide) tablets 15mg and limited emergency stocks are available through Hansam Healthcare Ltd (tel 0870 241 3019). New supplies are expected at the beginning of September.
