The topics covered in the new second edition include preparing to become a locum, how to get work, what to expect in a community pharmacy and how to cope with financial matters. New chapters cover hospital pharmacy and locum work overseas. Lists of useful addresses and recommended reading are also included.

The 152-page paperback book costs £12.95. Orders can be placed with Pharmaceutical Press Customer Services (tel 01491 829272; fax 01491 829292; e-mail rpsgb@cabi.org) or through the Pharmaceutical Press website
