OnlookerFreed from the tyranny of dirty, expensive and inconvenient public transportFrom Mr P. R. Dishman, MRPharmS It is a pity that Onlooker has joined the Luddite tendency to decry the motor car (PJ, 21 August, p268) without considering the benefits of personal transport that the car gives us. Mass production of the car has freed most families from the tyranny of cramming themselves on to dirty, expensive and inconvenient public transport. This personal mobility is an invaluble asset that if lost or restricted would rightly cause the nearest thing to a revolution that this country has ever seen. I have no wish to return to the horse and cart and certainly resent any
restriction on using my legally insured, taxed and well maintained car
to travel where and when I choose. Paul Dishman
