Wear elastic stockings after DVTPatients with deep venous thrombosis can reduce their risk of post-thrombotic
syndrome by wearing compression stockings, research shows. In a trial
of patients with a first episode of symptomatic proximal DVT, 44 out of
90 not wearing stockings developed post-thrombotic problems compared with
23 out of 90 wearing stockings (Annals of Internal Medicine 2004;141:249).
