Global measures to control TB

The World Health Organization approach to controlling tuberculosis, which focuses on short-course directly-observed therapy, is not enough to curb the global problem, say doctors. More effective vaccines, rapid tests to diagnose latent infection and shorter, safer treatments are needed (Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health 2004;58:822-5).
