Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council appoints chief executive after organisation review
The Scottish Pharmaceutical General
Council announced this week that Paul White is to become its chief executive officer. The chief executive
role is a new position at the SPGC and follows an extensive organisational
review. He will take up the position on 1 November.
Mr White is currently working at the justice department of the Scottish
Executive and has previously held positions in the NHS. These include
chief executive officer of an acute hospital group in Londonderry and
director of finance/deputy chief executive
officer at Lothian Health Board in Scotland. Mr White is a graduate of
Queen’s University, Belfast, the Henley Business School and the
University of Edinburgh. He is also a qualified accountant.
An SPGC statement said that Mr White would be a key member of the team
that is negotiating the new Scottish pharmacy contract. “His depth
of experience across many sectors of the NHS will be an asset to the
organisation as it addresses the challenges ahead,” it said.
The new chief executive position means that the SPGC has adopted a similar
organisational structure to that of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating
Committee, the equivalent body in England. |
