New Council to come into being on the day after the 2005 AGM

The reformed Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society is now almost certain to succeed the current Council on the day after the Society’s 2005 annual general meeting, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 11 May 2005.

At the September Council meeting, the Council accepted without debate an amendment made by the Privy Council’s advisers to Article 8 of the Council’s preferred draft new Charter so as to specify that the new Council should come into office on that date.

The draft new Charter had offered alternative forms of wording to allow the new Council to come into office either on the date after the 2005 AGM or on some other fixed date to be specified.

The amendment was seen by the Council as non-contentious.
