New contract funding details next week

Contractors have one more week to wait until they receive the full details of the new community pharmacy contract.

The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee said this week that it will be publishing a book about the new contract early next week. The book, which will be sent to all contractors, will contain detailed information about the contract including the service specifications, payments, fees and allowances.

The PSNC is running roadshows about the new contract between 31 October and 14 November (PJ, 16 October, p549). During and after this period, a ballot on the proposed new contract will be held.

“Contractors will shortly receive their ballot papers to vote for the future of community pharmacy,” said Sue Sharpe, chief executive of the PSNC.

“I urge all contractors to study the detail and vote for your future in the forthcoming ballot. We believe it is a good new contract and one that provides a secure and rewarding structure for the future of community pharmacy.”

Information about the funding of the new contract will appear in next week’s Journal. In this week’s issue we continue our series about the services in the new contract with a look at advanced services (p602).
