“Pharmacy” restaurant items sell for £11mFixtures and fittings from Damien Hirst’s former restaurant “Pharmacy” were auctioned at Sotheby’s this week, and fetched over £11m. Contents from the restaurant were sold following the restaurant’s closure in September last year (PJ, 27 September 2003, p396), and include a set of ampoule-shaped salt and pepper shakers which sold for £2,160, a set of six pill-shaped bar stools which fetched £15,600 and a glass and steel medicines cupboard (pictured with the artist) which fetched over £1.2m. |
