CPD rethink is necessary for overseas members

From Mr J. Macrae McLusky, MRPharmS

In The Pharmaceutical Journal of 16 October (p581) Peter Wilson, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s head of post-registration, said that overseas members could access continuing professional development materials online. Software to carry out CPD offline was promised in a reply to my letter a year ago and that was for UK-based members (PJ, 9 August 2003, p176). It is still not available.

In recent letters from overseas members — I was one some years ago — where earnings are small and access to computers is academic since electricity is necessary, a rethink is needed. We live on a small planet. Some Council members should explore more of it and see how the other more-than-half live.

James Macrae McLusky
Wotton under Edge, Gloucestershire

Pharmacists who choose to record their CPD electronically will be be able to do so offline by the end of the year (PJ, 2 October, p474)
