Selling smaller painkiller packs cuts suicide rates

Suicide deaths from paracetamol and salicylates fell by 22 per cent and admissions to liver units for paracetamol poisoning and liver transplants by 30 per cent following UK legislation limiting the size of packs of analgesics sold over the counter, a study published on BMJ Online has found. The number of non-fatal overdoses also fell.
