New edition of Veterinary Formulary available

New edition of Veterinary FormularyA fully revised sixth edition of the Veterinary Formulary is now available from the Pharmaceutical Press (the publishing arm of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society).

The book is published as a reference source for veterinary surgeons, pharmacists and others involved with animal health care. It is produced in collaboration with the British Veterinary Association and includes the BVA code of practice.

The new edition has been updated and revised by 51 expert contributors and reviewed by an advisory committee of vets and pharmacologists. The book is edited by Yolande Bishop, a practising vet and a freelance writer and editor who was formerly a member of the Society’s publications staff. The book includes 780 drug monographs, of which 55 are new and the rest have been updated. It also gives information on 1,650 UK veterinary preparations and preparation and animal dosage details for more than 700 human-authorised products.

The book’s existing sections have been rearranged to reflect current veterinary practice. Topics covered in new sections include prescribing for rabbits, avian pneumovirus, mycoplasmosis, neonicotinoids, canine pheromonatherapy and teat sealants. A new table gives husbandry requirements for common pet terrestrial invertebrates and there is a new appendix on drug interactions.

The 592-page hardback book is priced at £75 but is being offered at a special price of £60 for all orders placed before 30 November.

Orders can be placed with Pharmaceutical Press Customer Services (tel 01491 829272; fax 01491 829292; e-mail rpsgb@cabi.org) or through the Pharmaceutical Press website
