Agenda for Change on brink of acceptanceGeneral acceptance of the Agenda for Change NHS pay and conditions review package is looking increasingly likely now that most members of Unison, the UK’s largest trade union representing 1.3 million worlers, have said they are happy with it. Unison announced this week that NHS members had voted 3:1 in favour of the deal on a ballot turnout of 27 per cent of its 400,000 NHS members. Other unions, including the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives have also accepted the deal. Only one union, the Society of Radiographers, which has 16,000 members, has rejected it. The AfC proposals would result in most radiographers working longer hours for the same or less pay. Amicus, the parent union of the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists, was expected to announce the result of its ballot of members on AfC on 12 November, after The Journal went to press. |
