Welsh substance misuse framework launchedGuidelines on the treatment of substance misuse were published by the Welsh Assembly Government last week. The framework sets standards for treatment providers in Wales on the range of services they should be offering substance misusers. It covers the first five of 20 areas that are due to be published in stages. They are residential rehabilitation, community prescribing, inpatient treatment, co-existing mental illness and needle exchange. The framework aims to improve the availability of, and access to, such treatment services, and increase the participation of substance misusers in treatment programmes. It was due to be published on the National Assembly for Wales website (www.wales.gov.uk) on 12 November after The Journal had gone to press. |
