Isle of Man launches its own pharmacy strategy

A strategy for pharmacy in the Isle of Man has been produced jointly by the Isle of Man Pharmacy Contractors’ Association and the Isle of Man government.

Among its proposals are that a scheme should be established for annual medication reviews for at-risk patients, a minor ailments scheme should be developed, an on-call system established and that community pharmacists should be formally linked to GPs to provide prescribing advice. In addition, it suggests that the Isle of Man government and the contractors’ association should investigate the resources required to enable a consultation area to be installed at every community pharmacy and to determine the level of support pharmacists will need for clinical governance.

There are 24 pharmacies on the island.
