Society launches online payment system for 2005 retention fees

From 6 December, members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society will be able to pay their 2005 retention fees online by debit or credit card. An enhanced facility will also allow them to make their annual return online instead of having to fill in and return a form, as in 2004.

And for the first time, the online service is also being offered to owners of pharmacy premises. They too can make their annual returns and pay their retention fees without the need to return a form.

Confirmation of successful payment will be sent by e-mail immediately. Members and pharmacy owners will not need to wait for payments to be processed and receipts to be issued to know that the fee has been paid.

Payment cannot be made before pharmacists and pharmacy owners have received their 2005 retention fee packs, which are due to be sent out in early December. To use the site pharmacists will need to enter the form number on the retention fee form within the pack, as well as their registration number. Pharmacy owners will need to enter a retention fee form number as well as their owner number.

All fees are due on 1 January 2005 and premises annual returns need to be made in January.

The Society says that payment of retention fees via the website will be quick and easy for both pharmacists and pharmacy owners and cost-effective for the Society.

Welcoming the development of the website service, Philip Green, the Society’s Deputy Secretary and Registrar and Director of Education and Registration, said: “The online service allows payments to be made more quickly and easily and for members choosing this method it means the end of form filling. We are particularly pleased to be able to extend the online service to pharmacy owners this year.”

Payments can also be made using Direct Debit and by cheque. Further information about payment methods is available from the registration section (tel 020 7572 2322; e-mail registration@rpsgb.org).
