The Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Scottish Department is holding the annual Scottish Pharmacy Conference at the Old Course Hotel, St Andrews, Fife, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November 2004.
The conference, entitled “Putting patients first; putting theory
into practice; celebrating excellence”, will include an opening
address by Angela Timoney, chairman of the Society's Scottish Executive.
There will also be key presentations from Martyn Evans, director of the
Scottish Consumer Council, on “Putting patients first” and
from Colin Williams, director for Scotland of the Princess Royal Trust
for Carers, on “Caring for carers”.
Conference participants will have the opportunity to attend a variety
of parallel sessions on the Saturday as well as to become involved in
workshops on the Sunday on “Demonstrating excellence in practice” and
to debate the topic “Patients don’t want pharmaceutical care — they
just want their medicines”. In addition there will be poster sessions
throughout the conference and a dinner for participants delegates on
the Saturday evening.
Lyndon Braddick, director of the Society’s Scottish Department,
said: “The Scottish Pharmacy Conference brings together key health
professionals to discuss new developments in Scotland and to discuss
current issues around patient care. The workshop sessions and debate
session will also offer delegates the opportunity to share their views.”
Delegate rates are £90 per person for the full weekend (including
the conference dinner), with an accompanying guest rate of £80
per person. For those wishing to attend the day-time sessions only the
cost is £50 per person for the two days. Further information is
