New season of inspectors’ presentations for preregistration trainees

Each year, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s professional standards inspectors organise a series of informal half-day presentations for preregistration trainees. The aim of the sessions is to explain the inspector’s own role and that of the Society’s Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs Directorate, so that trainees can gain an understanding of the support available to pharmacists from those sources.

The sessions are open to all trainees, whatever fields of practice they are training in. Trainees may attend the presentation of their own choice. There is no need to reserve a place in advance, other than for the sessions in Bath, Birmingham, Leeds and Oxford. There is no charge for attending the presentations, but any travel costs will have to be met by the trainee or employer.

Most of this season’s presentations are early in the new year, but one session, in Crewe, has already taken place. The remaining presentations take place at 26 venues across Britain, with a choice of dates in London and Birmingham (see PDF 35K). Extra sessions in London replace the sessions held in Brighton and Maidstone in previous years.

Details of all the presentations are to be sent to preregistration trainees and tutors early in January. The mailing will include information on the precise location of each venue, with details of railway stations and bus routes and advice on road travel and parking. For most venues the mailing will also give a telephone number for further information about the site (eg, access for the disabled). This information is already available from the preregistration training page of the Society’s website.

Any queries about the presentations should be addressed in writing to the individual inspectors, at the Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs Directorate.
