Frequent cannabis use during adolescence and young adulthood moderately increases the risk of psychotic symptoms later in life, with the effect being stronger in those with a predisposition for psychosis. This was the finding of a German study involving 2,437 young people aged 14 to 24 years who were monitored for four years (published online, BMJ Online First).
