Society appoints lead for long-term conditions and public health
A pharmacist, Robert Clayton, has been appointed lead for long-term conditions and public health within the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Directorate of Practice and Quality Improvement.
In this newly created role Mr Clayton will be responsible for ensuring
that the Society is prepared for the implementation of the new pharmacy
contract and will advise on how pharmacy can deliver on the Department
of Health’s public health White
Paper, “Choosing health:
making healthier choices easier”.
In his previous career Mr Clayton has worked at the Department of Health
in the pharmacy and prescriptions branch, as an area/district pharmaceutical
officer and as a prescribing adviser in several regional health authorities
and most recently as a community pharmacy manager.
Welcoming the appointment, David Pruce, Director of Practice and Quality
Improvement, said: “The management of long-term conditions and
improving public health is a high priority for all GB government health
departments. This new role will be pivotal
in ensuring that the Society contributes to decision-making around making
the best use of the pharmacy workforce and the development of initiatives
that will shape the future of pharmacy.”
