Reading school of pharmacy to be launched next week

The new school of pharmacy at the University of Reading will be officially launched next week after recently obtaining approval for its MPharm degree course from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Postgraduate education at the school begins this month with a Society-accredited course on supplementary prescribing, and undergraduates will enrol on the MPharm degree course from October 2005.

The school will be equipped with teaching and research facilities and, according to the head of the school Gavin Brooks, is “ideally placed within the Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire triangle to meet the widely recognised need for such a facility”.

The launch will be marked by a reception at the school where the guest of honour will be Tony Moffat, former chief scientist of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
