BOC defers oxygen proposals

Proposals to charge pharmacy contractors rental on oxygen cylinders have been deferred until April.

BOC proposed new arrangements for domiciliary oxygen last November. The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee has since met representatives from BOC and the company has now agreed to defer the proposal to charge rental on cylinders until 1 April.

The PSNC has issued a statement urging contractors to conduct a full audit of their oxygen cylinders, including searching for missing cylinders, as soon as possible. “If contractors do not conduct a thorough audit then BOC will seek to charge for missing cylinders at their previously published rate and levy a rental,” the statement said.
