Amiodarone no benefit in CHF

Amiodarone does not improve survival among patients with mild to moderate congestive heart failure, say researchers. They compared the drug’s effects with those of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) and found that the ICD device reduced overall mortality by 23 per cent (New England Journal of Medicine 2005;352:225).
